Paper was manufactured on the Aylesford Newsprint site since 1922, formerly under the name of Aylesford Paper Mill and latterly known as Aylesford Newsprint. The local area’s history had previously revolved around the paper and packaging industry for decades. Aylesford Newsprint was the largest paper recycling factory in Europe producing more than 400,000 tons of newsprint per annum when it closed in February 2015.

Rob Croxen and Neil Gostelow (KPMG) are appointed as Joint Administrators to Aylesford Newsprint Limited (ANL). Following their appointment, the Administrators appointed JLL to act as their sales and marketing agent for the purpose of bringing the asset to market.

KPMG have sold off the assets and decommissioned the plant. KPMG appointed W&S Waste Management Ltd., a demolition and recycling company, to reduce the buildings to slab level and dispose of all equipment and production machines prior to a disposal of the Site. This work is due to be completed by the end of 2018.
